    What’s new

    Dubbed or original, for every movie and series

    • Language and quality are now two separate choices. Pick Dubbed or Original with subtitles first, then the quality (4K, HDR, Full HD…): only the files that really have the voice you want are shown.
    • Not only anime anymore: the original language comes from TMDB (English for an American movie, Korean for a drama, Japanese for an anime). Solea reads the audio tracks of each version to find the voice, including dubbed files that also carry the original one.
    • Audio only offers the languages really present in the file.
    • No local version at all? Solea offers the English versions only, and starts with subtitles.
    • Your choice is remembered for each movie and series.

    Redesigned movie, series and cast pages

    • Full-bleed backdrop and title logo, age rating, filled quality badges (HDR in gold), tagline, three-line synopsis.
    • Version / Language / Audio / Subtitles pickers instead of rows of chips.
    • Movies: Cast, Similar and Details tabs (stacked on TV).
    • Series: the page is all about episodes — seasons with their episode count, dubbed / original on the right, episodes with thumbnail, watched mark, synopsis, and the next one highlighted with the time left. Two columns on desktop.
    • Series "Info" opens a full-screen page: full synopsis, details, numbers, cast and similar series.
    • Cast pages: newest titles first, grouped by year, "New" badge, Series / Movies / Anime filters, photo, birth date, age, place of birth and biography.
    • More accurate similar titles.
    • When the provider's synopsis or episode titles are in another language, Solea shows TMDB's in yours.

    Chromecast from Android phones

    • Dolby and DTS sound is now converted for the Chromecast from Android too, like on Windows and iPhone. The picture is sent as is, 4K and HDR included.

    Getting started

    • The Solea account is optional: "Continue without an account".
    • Phone sign-in page (after scanning the TV's QR code): French or English, password rules checked as you type, cleaner design.

    Updates

    • Solea now updates itself on Android and Windows: once a day it checks for a new version and offers to install it.

    Other changes

    • Live TV on TV boxes: ▲ ▼ no longer zap to the neighboring channels; they show the info bar. CH+ / CH− and numbers still change channels.
    • Clearer legal notice: Solea is a player and provides no content.

    iPhone: casting, the Apple way

    • "Now Playing" controls: casting shows in iOS's playback controls (lock screen, Control Center), like YouTube, and the volume buttons set the TV volume (Chromecast).
    • "Cast to" and the remote redesigned like Apple Music's "Now Playing": blurred background in the poster's colors, large poster, white controls, translucent tiles, actions in a "…" button.
    • Native iOS sheets, grouped lists, action menus and alerts.
    • Tab bar: Apple's outlined icons at the system size.

    Casting

    • Progress saved in "Continue watching" when you stop, and every 30 s; the home screen updates.

    What’s new

    New welcome screen

    • Animated poster wall behind sign-in, account creation and catalog preparation, scrolling slowly in a loop.
    • Smooth even on small boxes (Fire TV Stick Lite, Xiaomi TVs).
    • On desktop, these pages and "Who's watching?" are no longer huge.

    Casting redesigned

    • New design: devices as cards, remote with the poster, thin progress bar, big play button, settings as tiles.
    • Subtitles on Chromecast: taken from OpenSubtitles and sent with the video; show, hide or change language from the remote.
    • Audio track choice on Chromecast: the video resumes at the same point with the chosen track.
    • Same choices as the player: audio language and subtitles remembered per title are applied when casting.
    • Volume in percent; on a TV with Chromecast built-in, it's the TV volume.
    • Dolby audio of episodes is now converted for the Chromecast, like movies.

    iPhone

    • iOS 26: Apple's Liquid Glass tab bar, floating and transparent.

    Profiles

    • "Who's watching?": new "Don't show at startup" box.

    Fixes

    • Video unavailable at the provider: a clear message instead of a technical error.
    • "Continue watching": every card shows the right picture.

    What’s new

    New player

    • TV: thin progress bar with intro and credits marked in gold, clock and end time, current version (1080p · HEVC · 5.1), a row of icons that show their name and value when focused.
    • Audio and subtitles in one panel, with the subtitle style below.
    • "More" menu: aspect ratio, speed, subtitle sync and technical info.
    • Episodes from the player: seasons and episodes in a row, with what you have watched.
    • Pause screen (TV): title and synopsis after 5 s of pause; the screensaver after 5 min.
    • Desktop: a single bottom bar; interface enlarged on 2K / 4K screens.
    • Phone: -10 s, play and +10 s in the middle, and a Lock button.

    New settings

    • Six categories: General, Playback, Subtitles, Account, Catalog, About.
    • Synced with your Solea account: language, country, subtitles, intro choices, anime library, sort, OpenSubtitles account, TMDB key, and audio/subtitles per series, encrypted with your password.
    • Error log (Settings › About), to copy when reporting a problem, without your credentials.

    Fixes

    • Android: media keys of remotes and headsets work, and Solea appears in Android TV's "Now playing" card.

  5. Solea 0.6.7

    What’s new

    New: Anime library

    • Turn it on in Settings › Catalog › Anime library. An Anime section appears with Japanese animation series and movies, anime favorites and an anime-only search.
    • Dubbed or original with subtitles, on every page. The subtitled version is the one that really has the Japanese voice: Solea checks the audio tracks of the file.
    • With subtitles, the Japanese voice and subtitles in your language are chosen for you; missing subtitles are downloaded from OpenSubtitles.
    • Your last choice is remembered for each anime.

    Series

    • Browse seasons with the remote without switching on the way.

    Search

    • Titles known under another name are found ("le roi lion" finds "The Lion King").

    What’s new

    Chromecast: Dolby and DTS movies, much better

    • The Chromecast now knows the movie's length: full progress bar, and jumps take a few seconds, even from the TV remote.
    • No more micro-cuts.
    • 4K: if the Chromecast refuses this mode in 4K, Solea switches to the previous mode by itself.

    iPhone

    • Locked screen: casting continues with the phone locked, with a Live Activity (lock screen and Dynamic Island) and -10 s, play/pause, +30 s buttons (iOS 17+).

    Subtitles

    • Settings › Subtitles › Language: subtitle language independent of the country.
    • Online search (OpenSubtitles) starts from this language, with a quick switch to another one.

    Fixes

    • A favorite series no longer appears twice.

    What’s new

    Chromecast: sound for Dolby and DTS movies

    • From Windows and iPhone, Solea now converts the audio on the fly for the Chromecast. The picture is sent as is, 4K and HDR included.
    • Picture and sound stay in sync, even after a pause or a jump.
    • Conversion only when needed: when a version already has readable audio, it is sent directly.
    • Security: the movie is only sent to the chosen Chromecast, at a secret address; your credentials never leave your device.

    Replay

    • Real titles of past programs instead of time slots.

    What’s new

    New: your Solea account

    Your subscription, profiles (with PIN and parental control), progress and favorites follow you on all your devices, even away from home.

    • On a box or TV: scan the QR code, everything happens on your phone.
    • On a new device: email and password, and everything is already there.
    • End-to-end encrypted: nobody but you, not even Solea, can read your data.
    • Settings › Solea account: sync, sign out, change password, delete the account.

    Settings › Subscription

    • Your subscription status: active, expiring soon, expired; expiry date and days left; current streams out of those allowed.
    • Edit the subscription: new provider address or password, without signing out or downloading the catalog again.

    Chromecast

    • Audio is checked before sending: if the movie is in Dolby or DTS, Solea sends another version with compatible audio.
    • When the Chromecast refuses, Solea gives the real reason.

    What’s new

    Casting redesigned

    • Cast button in the sidebar (top icon on phones): pick your Solea box or Chromecast once, then start a channel, movie or episode and it goes straight there. Nothing plays on the sending device: a single connection at your provider.
    • Remote: pause, skip back / forward, position bar, "Resume here". Chromecast: volume. Solea box: audio track, subtitles, speed and aspect ratio.
    • Chromecast plays the stream itself: you can close Solea, the movie keeps playing.
    • Chromecast audio: Chromecasts decode neither Dolby nor DTS. Solea picks a version with AAC audio when there is one, otherwise it warns you.

    Known limits

    • Chromecast: subtitles and aspect ratio not adjustable.

    What’s new

    New: Windows installer

    • Simple installation, no administrator rights. Solea is added to the Desktop and the Start menu.
    • To update, just run the new installer: your account, settings, favorites and progress are kept.
    • Uninstall from Settings › Apps.

    Windows fixes

    • Pages: Resume, Favorites… buttons respond to clicks again.
    • Player: F11 toggles full screen; "Skip intro" skips without pausing.
    • Live: one click on a channel of the bar is enough to zap.
    • Settings: Back arrow always works, ‹ › chevrons are clickable, subtitle preview no longer cut in full screen.
    • TV interface (Settings › Display) fills the whole window.

    What’s new

    Tested for several days on three boxes: XGIMI (Android 14), Fire TV Stick and Xiaomi Mi TV Stick.

    What's new

    • Cast filmography: OK on an actor shows their movies and series available in your catalog, the best known first, with their role.
    • Version choice for series: 4K or standard, dubbed or not, like movies. The version your device can play is picked for you.
    • Marks on the progress bar: intro and recap in green, end credits in yellow.
    • Better end-credits detection: the next episode is offered as soon as the credits start. If no source knows them, Solea learns: start the next episode once during the credits, and the following episodes will offer it at that moment.
    • "Hide subtitles in another language" setting.
    • Original-language movies: subtitles in your country's language are turned on when they exist.
    • The remote's Search button opens Solea's voice search directly.

    Search and catalog

    • Search about 10 times faster, especially on boxes.
    • All versions of a movie are grouped, even under two different titles ("Matrix" / "The Matrix").
    • Catalog preparation retries by itself after a cut and no longer gets stuck.

    Playback

    • Dolby audio (AC3, E-AC3): boxes that claim to pass it through but fail (Mi TV Stick) switch to decoded audio automatically.
    • 1.5× and 2× speeds also work with Dolby audio.
    • Next episode shows the picture again.
    • A 4K version too heavy for the device is explained clearly, and a compatible version is offered.
    • Fire TV: more stable 4K playback.
    • Clearer error messages instead of technical codes.

    Live channels

    • CH+ goes to the next channel; focus is no longer lost after typing a number.
    • Dark logos are placed on a light plate and are readable again.

    Small boxes and Fire TV

    • Much smoother interface: on Fire TV, slow frames drop from about 45% to 2%.
    • The sign-in QR code works again on Fire TV.

    Cast to the TV (desktop)
    • "Cast" button on movie and series pages: the movie or episode goes straight to the TV, without opening the PC player.
    • Smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony…) now appear in "Cast to…" (DLNA).
    • Chromecasts finally found on Windows: Chromecasts and "Chromecast built-in" devices appear in the list.
    • MKV movies on Chromecast: the MP4 version is picked automatically when there is one.
    • Cast bar at the bottom right of every page: pause, Resume here (playback comes back to the PC at the same point) and Stop.
    • The position of the cast movie is saved in "Continue watching".
    Mini player (desktop)
    • Mini player button or P key: the video keeps playing in a corner while you browse.
    • Drag it with the mouse; on hover: pause, enlarge (or double-click), close.
    • Same stream, never cut: no trouble with single-connection subscriptions.
    Sync between devices
    • "Continue watching" and favorites sync between all the Solea devices of the same subscription, on your home network, with no account or server.

    Fixes

    • Cast refused ("stream already in use"): the PC now frees the connection before sending to the box or TV, and retries by itself.
    • Windows full screen: no more small window on the way in or out.
    • Player Back button really leaves the player.
    • Subtitles sit just above the progress bar when the controls are shown, whatever the screen size.
