Install Solea on iPhone

Solea installs with SideStore, a free app that installs apps with your own Apple Account. You need a computer once, about 10 minutes. After that, everything happens on the iPhone, updates included.

You need

  • An iPhone or iPad (iOS 15 or later), with a passcode
  • A Windows PC or a Mac, and a USB cable for the iPhone
  • Your Apple Account (your usual one works)
  • Wi-Fi
  1. On the iPhone

    Install LocalDevVPN

    Install the free LocalDevVPN app from the App Store, open it, tap “Connect” and allow the VPN. It stays on the iPhone: nothing goes out to the Internet, it’s only there for SideStore.

  2. On the computer

    Install iloader

    iloader is the small free program that installs SideStore. On Windows, also install iTunes (it brings the iPhone driver).

  3. On the computer

    Install SideStore

    Plug the iPhone in with USB (on the iPhone, tap “Trust” and enter your passcode). Open iloader, sign in with your Apple Account, pick your iPhone, then “Install SideStore (Stable)”. Mind uppercase letters in the email address.

  4. On the iPhone

    Allow SideStore

    Settings › General › VPN & Device Management › tap your Apple Account › Trust. Then Settings › Privacy & Security › at the very bottom, turn on Developer Mode: the iPhone restarts, confirm with “Turn On”.

  5. On the iPhone

    Finish SideStore

    Open LocalDevVPN and tap “Connect”. Open SideStore, sign in with the same Apple Account, go to “My Apps” and tap “7 DAYS” next to SideStore. If you’re offered a new certificate, accept.

    You can unplug the iPhone: the computer is no longer needed.

  6. On the iPhone

    Install Solea

    Open this page on the iPhone and tap the button: SideStore adds the Solea source. Install Solea from the source.

Afterwards

  • Apps installed this way must be renewed every 7 days: SideStore does it by itself in the background while LocalDevVPN is connected. Open SideStore once in a while.
  • New Solea versions show up in SideStore, in the updates tab.
  • With a free Apple Account, at most 3 apps can be installed this way (SideStore counts as one).
